Modern medicine is something akin to a miracle. My knee went haywire so I had it replaced and was back on the tennis courts in seven weeks. My heart had blockage issues so I had a quadruple (7.5-hour surgery) and was back on the tennis courts in 8 weeks. So long as they can keep putting in new parts I figure I'm good to go—best of luck with the surgery, which will leave you improved and ready to continue exploring life.

Greg: All the best to you (you are the best!). Fortunately you do not need surgery to give you the intelligence and courage that your life has shown. Hope to have a meal with you two in Vail in April. Marc and Cynthia

Greg. I wish you a speedy recovery. As I say that, I sit in a waiting room for my wife to have a needle stuck in her back. It will hopefully relieve pain she has been fighting for nearly two years.

I had my own steroid shot 14 months ago. I had managed to aggravate a condition called Spondyolisthesis which I had managed quite well since learning about it when I was 18. I am 72.

It was a miracle. I felt like I was 17. After a few months I returned to the state I was in that I had managed for so many years. I am biking and playing tennis. Pickleball is not as easy for some reason.

My son, now 34, had back surgery during COVID! Very painful. His injury was the result of a finger skating career prior to college. Now he just plays hockey. No jumping.

My wife is done. The doctor says she’s fine and will be out shortly.

Bottom line, indeed we are not alone. We are all apes on this banana boat. And there are so many of us.

Get well soon.

J

PS. I hope the meds will keep you numb through the inauguration.
