I have been in à state of shock since reading your post this afternoon. Never in the worst days of the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland was anything as abhorrent these arrests carried out by the police with the support of the army. The police never carried out raids involving all the tenants in an apartment building.
For example, you may remember the Divis Flats in Belfast which was a hotbed of IRA activity. The police did go in but only with specific information and always with a prior risk assessment. They never dragged people out naked; they certainly never put children in restraints and separated them from their parents.
I am so horrified by the apparent lack of planning for these arrests. No warrants, no explanations, no named suspects, no guidelines, no respect, innocent people cuffed and kept standing for hours. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
We in Europe who experienced Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini cannot believe that the United States is on course to the establishment of a dictatorship.
Constant raciat harrassment. Those were all American citizens taken on the pretext of tren de agua folks spend time in the neighborhood. We dare not become innured to this!
