So sorry you're experiencing Polymyalgia Rheumatica. John had that as well, and the onset was every bit as painful and disruptive as you described. However, prednisone did bring relief! I'm hopeful you will also find relief.

A remarkable, and often diagnostic characteristic of PMR is its response to LOW dose prednisone (15, maybe 20mg). And the response is generally rapid - a day or 2. As a physician it was a gratifying disease to treat: severe symptoms vanishing with rather low medication doses.

The major concern in people with PMR is the possibility of temporal (giant cell) arteritis. This is much more serious as it may result in vision loss.

Feel better Greg. I take prednisone from time to time and I can attest to its wonder-drug properties. Everything feels better on this miracle pill.

Greg, So sorry to hear about your condition. Hopefully, the prednisone will take care of the problem, and quickly. Our dog Rusty was diagnosed with an auto immune disease...meningitis. He was on prednisone for 3 months but did recover completely. i'm hoping your recovery is swift and complete. Roy
