I was on a Coast Guard ship in the 80's, delivering humanitarian aid to Port Au Prince. I have never been to place so bereft of any hope or vision - it was heartbreaking then and is heartbreaking now.
One has to wonder, in their desperation, how long it will be before it spills over into the Dominican Republic. The imaginary line between the two countries is porous.
Thank you for the reminder— though this has been a story from which i can’t avert my eyes. As long as i can remember Haiti has had these devastating dysfunctions. But why? The current awful daily story seems to have no end.
