(Dobbs) How stories change....
In the piece published overnight with the title, “You must refuse illegal orders,” there are two changes. A brief note about them both.
The first is, about 24 hours after news broke about the new Coast Guard policy on hate symbols, after this piece was published on Substack, the Coast Guard reversed itself. As if the idea needs reinforcement, the swastika once again, officially, is a hate symbol.
The second is, when I identified Senator Mark Kelly, one of the six Democratic members of Congress who made the video about illegal orders, absentmindedly I called him Scott. That’s because Mark has a brother named Scott, and they are identical twins. Not only that, but until Mark went into politics, they had identical careers: both were Navy fighter pilots, and both were astronauts. I never knew either one real well but in the years I covered the space program, I knew them both. Good guys. Good patriots.
